LINKS TO BROWN'S PARK HISTORY
(Northeastern Utah)

I was given the opportunity to live and work in Brown's Park for two and one half months in the fall of 1982 while working for Martin Water Service. I supplied water to an oil rig on two locations leased to Standard Oil. The rig was located about four miles north of Brown's Park above Jesse Ewing Canyon, and I traveled the canyon several times each day, or night, to the Green River for water. The canyon was fourteen to eighteen percent grade, and it would take three hours to a round trip. The water point was about a quarter mile from the Jarvie Ranch, and my only way of keeping clean was to bath in the river. November weather made bathing difficult, to say the least.

In conversation I was told the fascinating stories of John Jarvie's murder and the history of Jesse Ewing  and his mine, as they and other individuals of notoriety, such as Butch Cassidy, had become Brown's Park legends. Their stories were extremely fascinating. When I ran across the following links I thought it would be nice to share them with others that may also have an interest in Brown's Park and it's history. If you are aware of additional links that should be listed on this page, please contact me and I will add them.
